Sustainability Summary:

Hartford Middle School:

  • has a recycling program.

We are proud of our ongoing commitment to reducing our energy usage. We started making improvements in 1983 and we continue to make improvements as we can. We have reduced our electricity usage by 28% from 1979 even though we have added 500 computers and air-conditioned two buildings. We have reduced our natural gas usage by 25% even though we have converted two buildings from electrical to natural gas heat. We have accomplished this by insulating roofs, installing thermal pane glass, using night set back heat controls, and turning off appliances and lights when not in use. All staff members are trying to conserve energy every day.

Property Description:

Case Study:

We want to continue to upgrade our equipment to help us reduce energy consumption. We also plan to implement operating procedures that continue to reduce our energy consumption. We are looking forward to receiving  technical assistance from MRSP to help us identify which improvements we should make.
