Planet Footprint tracks energy performance of all Victorian public schools
Monday, September 15, 2008
Planet Footprint recently commenced work with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to deliver its monitoring, benchmarking and reporting services to all Victorian public schools. The project will initially see all 1600 Victorian public schools monitored and reported for electricity and gas performance by Planet Footprint, and will expand over the next 12 months to include high level performance benchmarking to senior DEECD staff. The project is the first in Australia to see an entire state school system consistently and rapidly monitored for energy performance.
Planet Footprint was awarded the contract to deliver the service to the DEECD based on its experience in delivering similar services to the complicated local government market. In particular, Planet Footprint's ability to deliver a fully managed service to the DepartmentDEECD, which allows Department staff to refocus their resources to more on-the-ground improvement programs was a deciding factor in Planet Footprint's selection as the project partner. Planet Footprint's cost effectiveness, and credibility as a dedicated 'environmental scorekeeper' were also influencing factors.
