Sustainability Summary:

Oakridge Lower Elementary School:

  • has a recycling program
  • uses T-8 or CFL lighting extensively
  • uses native landscaping.

Oakridge Public Schools completed an energy management program in 1995 that included four of our school buildings. The project covered replacing lights and ballasts, and installing new boilers and temperature controls.

Property Description:

Oakridge Lower Elementary School was built in 1950, with the last major renovation in 1999.  There are a combination of structures, including the original structure plus seven portable buildings.  They are one story, and include approximately 39,500 square feet of floor area.  There are currently approximately 419 students in grades 1 - 3, with 23 teachers.

Case Study:

We are planning a bond extension vote in the near future. We need to upgrade our elementary school and move our students from the seven portable buildings into our main building. We would invite a new school design with many energy saving ideas.
